Stuart-Buttle Hangar

The Museum's largest building. Film-replica Hurricanes and Spitfires, a Defiant, a replica of the prototype Spitfire, Tiger Moth, Magister and Harvard trainers, the Westland Whirlwind Project, 21 recovered Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, artefacts from the Battle of France and period RAF station vehicles.

Lord Dowding Memorial Hangar

Three Messerschmitt Bf 109E replicas, a Fieseler Storch, Grunau Baby glider, Fokker Triplane and Gotha bomber fuselage, the von Werra crash-landing diorama, Luftwaffe engines and aircraft remains, an Amy Johnson display, a Link Trainer, anti-aircraft guns, air-raid shelters, an airfield diorama and a Home Front collection.

Watch Office

The Watch Office was the eyes and ears of a 1940 period RAF airfield. This particular building also includes a 1940 period sitting room and kitchen.

Operations Block

Built in 1927 and once the nerve centre of flying operations at RAF Hawkinge. Artefacts recovered from more than 700 Battle of Britain aircraft, most excavated by the Museum's own recovery team from the late 1960s to the 1980s, each displayed with the story of the airmen involved.

Armoury

The Museum's original 1926 Armoury. One of the finest collections of 1940 Allied and German uniforms anywhere in the world, with flying kit, insignia and weapons, Lord Dowding's uniform, personal effects of Sir Keith Park, the Wall of Honour, the Luftwaffe Gallery, a First World War display and more than 300 fine-art prints.

25 Sqdn Mess & Tea Room

Our cosy café offers a good range of freshly prepared hot & cold food and drinks at inexpensive prices. Seating is inside, outside under cover or on the grass.

Shop

A wide selection of aviation themed products are on offer including Corgi and Hobby Master diecast models, Airfix kits, books, DVDs, clothing, greetings cards and replica and educational items.

V1 and V2 Display

Houses a life-size replica of a long range V.1. flying bomb and related items from the V.1. & V.2 raids.

Museum Grounds

The Spirit of the Few Monument, three gate guardian Hurricanes, replica Spitfires Mk I and Mk IX, a Junkers Ju 52, Heinkel He 111 and Bristol Blenheim Mk IV, the Last of the Few Memorial, three Pickett-Hamilton Forts, a Type 22 pillbox, the Hawkinge Airfield Memorial, several memorial plaques, items salvaged from the airfield and a 1940 'Dig for Victory' garden.Visitors are very welcome to have picnics on the grass if they don't wish to have a meal or a tea or coffee with a sticky bun in the 25 Squadron Mess &Tea Room.
